Creative Strategist
Department: Marketing
Reports To: Marketing Communications Director
Job summary
The Creative Strategist develops and oversees the visual branding of Stonyfield and all sub-brands across multiple platforms including packaging, advertising, print collateral, web, retail and office displays, tradeshow and sampling booths, Visitors’ Center, and a variety sales and marketing materials. She/he ensures a consistent, high quality, high impact brand look and feel across all mediums. This person is a seasoned graphic designer/art director, who works collaboratively, and thinks conceptually and strategically about design. He/She has senior level design responsibilities as well as management responsibility of design team members and outside agencies and freelancers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily:
- Provide nurturing and strong creative culture within the company.
- Set and direct the visual direction for Stonyfield and sub-brands across all platforms.
- Provide creative vision and direction to internal and external creative teams in the development of creative materials.
- Develop and transform fresh ideas into actionable concepts.
- Design creative materials, art direct photoshoots, and oversee creative development and execution of packaging, advertising, collateral, web design, displays, etc.
- Manage, mentor and direct design staff, conduct annual performance reviews, and hire and build team of resources as needed.
- Develop style guidelines to ensure that all creative meets established standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Environmental Responsibilities
- Keep mission-related guiding principles in mind in developing and purchasing creative materials and in supervising others in the process.
- Support environmental programs established within the organization to include recycling of all office wastes according to program guidelines, initiate power conservation techniques by turning off lights and Computers when not in use.
- Proactively look for ways to reduce negative impacts on the environment.
Safety Responsibilities
- Proactively work in a safe manner in the context of performing the functions of your position
- Oversee the implementation and adherence to Company safety practices and programs and hold staff accountable for leading safety in the work place.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of proven success as a senior design or art/creative director, with at least 3 years of agency experience.
- B.S. / B.A.
- Strong, energetic, infectious leadership and interpersonal skills to lead and manage a team.
- Great communication skills. Enjoys collaboration and teamwork; interacts well with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to think and act strategically to meet company objectives.
- Detail oriented, and able to juggle multiple projects and conflicting deadlines at once.
- Passion for design and advertising.
- Track record of successful projects and career achievements. A highly creative portfolio of work with multi-media samples will be required to be considered for this position.
- Experience in and eagerness to mentor creative people.
- Ability to work in an open-office, face-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
- Fluent working knowledge of InDesign, Quark, Photoshop, Illustrator.
- Web-design experience with an understanding of HTML/CSS/Flash.
- Willingness and ability to travel as required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to safely lift 20 lbs.
- Ability to bend and reach files and cabinets where records are stored.
- Ability to work in an open office environment with frequent distractions and interruptions.
- Ability to sit and work at a computer 90-100% of the time.
